(Stable Spotlight) Our 2025 Snitzel Stack
We love Snitzel and he loves us! Arrowfield's Champion Sire has sired 143 stakes winners in Australia and some 14 of those (1 in 10) have come out of our Tulloch Lodge school of athletic excellence! Of his 19 Group 1 winners, Gai and Adrian between them have trained three (1 in 6).

Snitzel has given us the likes of In The Congo, Wanjina, Sweet Idea, Prost, Thronum, Castlereagh Kid, Taikomochi, Sweet Redemption, Arbeitsam, Dark Eyes, El Divino, Royal Tribute, Farson and Debonairly.

The Golden Slipper:
Marhoona's Slipper win last weekend should have come as no surprise in hindsight. We have been lucky enough to win this race 8 times in the last 24 years (one in three ratio), including 3 of the last 10 runnings. Of the 6 times we have not been victorious, Snitzel beat us 3 times via Marhoona, Shinzo and Estijaab - also roughly a 1 in 3 ratio over the last decade. Boy, what a formidable stallion he is.

2025 Plan Of Attack = Snitzel Stack:
We went into the 2025 yearling sales series with a renewed focus on securing the progeny of Snitzel, having missed out on as many as we would have liked by this great sire in recent years.

At Magic Millions we secured his highest priced filly out of Sweet Sherry for $1.6m, after underbidding his highest priced colt at $2.8m. We were strong on his best colts earlier in the sale securing Best Of Bordeaux's full-brother for $650,000, Hartnell's half-brother for $600,00, and a colt out of star producer Heart Of Thrills for $600,000. All we believe would have made more had they sold later in the sale.

There were a further 3 Snitzel's that we are very grateful to have been given this year to train, all cost in excess of $500,000 at public auction.

Value:
We aim to be active on his progeny again at Easter, although we expect they will be hotter than ever. It was just last weekend that Snitzel sired another Slipper winning filly, along with his first Hong Kong Derby winner, Cap Ferrat.

Herein lies the value in the last remaining shares we have in the following Snitzel colt from Magic Millions that is bred so well, how does he miss? He also has the advantage of already been educated and set up for early success.

Magic Millions - Lot 309
Snitzel x Debonnaire colt (rig)
Vendor: Arrowfield
Price: $600,000
Shares available: 25%
Profile: Triple Crown 2YO, Golden Rose, Guineas & Cox Plate as a 3YO

  • Bred in the purple by the Champion sire Snitzel from a mare whose 6 winners include 4 stakes horses; 4 x Group 1 winner Hartnell (Authorized), Listed winner and Group 1 placed Roz (Teofilo), stakes performed Ursula (Tapit), and Tulloch Lodge's own Dominetta (by Zoustar and Debonnaire's first Australian bred foal) who is multiple Group placed and from 7 career starts has contested two Group 1 races this season
  • Arrowfield have sold two of Snitzel's four Group 1 winners in the last 12 months = Switzerland and Lady Shenandoah
  • Our colt has completed his early education in our Goulburn 2YO system as at 20 March and is now enjoying a well deserved month off. He will visit Randwick in his next educational preparation next month.
  • Please note this colt is a rig (one descended testicle). Another son of Snitzel at stud, Group 1 winner Wild Ruler, is a good example of a rig performing well on the racetrack and with his fertility as a stallion. He was syndicated to stud for over $10m.

  • See his latest education update vide here from 20/3/2025

For more information regarding this Snitzel colt please contact our Bloodstock team:

His sire "does not miss", nor does his dam, coupled with this colt's size and strength, we think this son of Snitzel has a great chance of making you and your fellow owners front and centre in the mounting yard on Australia's biggest race days.

We are so glad to have secured him for our stable and owners.

Happy Racing,

Gai & Adrian
