would rarely pick a two-year-old debut because there are so many unknown factors, which is not the purpose of this piece, but I’ve got a gut feeling that this horse is quite special. An added layer of unknown is the lack of official trials in Melbourne, but my focus is on our horses and what I am certain of is that Straight Charge is a superstar of the future and Trunk has forced him to put his best foot forward in both trials and as his work partner at home. These two colts pulled clear of the rest in their two recent trials and Straight Charge then won a Saturday city race in Sydney by over three and a half lengths. If Trunk can replicate this form under the pressure of race day, I don’t think he will be beaten.
