Trackwork Wednesday 27 March 2019
Deep Field/Ubiquity has returned to the stable holding good condition and in high spirits. This morning, the filly commenced her pacework over 600 metres at three quarter pace alongside stablemate March On Selma (Dissident/Chiquada). The fillies proved to be a well matched pair and bowled down the straight in a professional fashion, stopping the clock at 14.2 seconds for the final furlong. Deep Field/Ubiquity pulled up having a small blow following the effort as she is still soft in condition at this early stage but we will work to expand her base fitness over the coming weeks as she prepares to get to the trials this time in. Cymbalic (Lonhro/Cymbal) pleased in his gallop over 600 metres at three quarter pace this morning. The colt worked very nicely in company with Pincer (Redoute's Choice/Pretty Pins) and the pair crossed the finish nose and nose, stopping the clock at 13.4 seconds for the final furlong. Cymbalic is still soft at this early stage, so we have added plenty of swimming into his regime to help him tighten up over the coming weeks. Taking our time to build up this colt's base fitness now will allow him to put his best foot forward when we ask him to step up to full paced work.
Elcano (High Chaparral/Spottswoode) continues to relax nicely into his trackwork and this morning, the gelding put in a lovely gallop over 1000 metres. We were pleased with how he maintained a steady rhythm from start to finish, stopping the clock at 14.0 seconds for the final furlong. We will continue to teach this gelding to settle out on the track with some figure eight work as it will get him listening to his riders, and we look forward to seeing his progress moving forward.
The lovely Pierro filly Under My Spell (Pierro/Illusionary) is still very much learning her trade, but we are pleased with her improvement over the past few weeks. This morning, the filly was all business in her gallop over 600 metres at three quarter pace in company with Redoute’s Choice/Piste Noire, and the pair covered the final 200 metres in a steady 14.2 seconds. Under My Spell is steadily improving this time in, with the best still to come as we intensify her regime over the coming weeks.
