Trackwork Wednesday 22 May 2019

Witchety Grub (Wandjina/Ice Crème) continues to improve each time she steps foot on the track and this morning she put in a stylish gallop over 600 metres (3 furlongs) at three quarter pace. Alongside stablemate Smart Success (Smart Missile/Essence Of Success), Whitchety Grub worked over the track nicely and crossed the finish nose to nose with her mate covering their final furlong in 15.3 seconds. Senior rider Steve O’Halloran who was aboard for today’s effort commented “She relaxed nicely underneath me today and gave me a good feel, she is definitely going the right way.”  Whitchety Grub has toned up in condition and is really coming to hand this time in.

Fiery Red (Pierro/Blazing Snitzel) received high praise from his jockey Rachel King this morning  after he completed his piece of work over 600 metres (3 furlongs) at three quarter pace.  The colt worked in the company of stablemate Lakia (Redoute’s Choice/Arabian Gold) and the well-matched pair worked down the straight nicely to stop the clock at 14.1 seconds for their final furlong. Rachel was very pleased with the colt’s effort this morning and commented “He was very good, he is  so straightforward. He just wants to get on with the job and he did his work comfortably and easy this morning.” Fiery Red has returned a bigger and stronger horse this preparation and we couldn’t be happier with his attitude towards his work, he is very focused and is ticking all the boxes as he edges closer to his first trial back.

We absolutely love this time of the year with all the youngsters coming through Tulloch Lodge  and this morning four pairs of yearlings stretched their legs over 400 metres (2 furlongs) at half pace.  A pair that particularly caught our attention was I Am Invincible/Recurring Dream '17 alongside stable mate Sebring/Rebound '17 who together worked head to head down the straight in a professional manner pleasing work rider Bastian Neuhaus and senior rider Johnny Livingstone.
