Trackwork Thursday 7 March 2019
Well-bred Doubell, by Olympic Glory and out of Group 1 winner Covertly, is steadily improving through his preparation. This morning, the colt galloped over 600 metres at three quarter pace with jockey Tim Clark aboard, who made the comment, “The colt has a lovely action and gave a great feel today. He is still learning his trade, but he has the right idea and I was happy with that.” We couldn’t be happier with how this colt is taking everything in his stride this preparation.
Wandjina/Spooked commenced her pacework over 600 metres at three quarter pace this morning. The filly worked over the track in a professional fashion and pulled up having a small blow after she covered the final furlong in 15.0 seconds. She is still quite soft at this early stage, so we will steadily build her up her fitness over the coming weeks before we intensify her regime.
Let Me Sleep On It (Manhattan Rain/Cheyenne Sue) earned ‘Best of the Morning’ honours from jockey Rachel King in her gallop over 1000 metres this morning. The filly bowled over the track with a lovely action and quickened nicely down the straight to stop the clock at 12.5 seconds for the final furlong. We are pleased with how she handled the step up to full paced work this morning and she will only improve as she gains additional fitness over the coming weeks.
