Trackwork Thursday 28 February 2019

Multiple Black Type winner Northwest Passage (So You Think/Danevade) earned fantastic compliments from jockey Winona Costin this morning. The gelding worked steadily over 1200 metres and Winona made the comment, “He was absolutely lovely this morning. His action was excellent and he gave me a fantastic feel throughout the effort, that was strong work.” Northwest Passage will get back to the trials in approximately two weeks’ time, after which we will program him to run.

Pinup Miss (Al Maher/Cymaron) has progressed very nicely since her second trial this preparation. This morning, she bowled over 1200 metres at three quarter pace with a smile on her face and earned ‘Best of the Morning’ honours from jockey Sam Clippertion in the process. Sam mentioned, “She has the most willing disposition and did everything right today. The filly was relaxed, and gave me the feel of a horse with a good engine.” Pinup Miss has become a favourite amongst the riders and regularly impresses in her trackwork so we are very much looking forward to getting her to the races in the next few weeks.

The penny is steadily dropping for Elder Price (Savabeel/On Broadway). He was a total professional in his gallop over 600 metres at three quarter pace this morning as jockey James Innes Junior explained, “The colt was very straightforward to ride, I was really happy with that work.” Although Elder Price is still in the early stages of his preparation, he is steadily improving and we will look to intensify his regime over the next 10 days.

Diamonds And Rust (Medaglia D’Oro/Gabbidon) and Dorothy Of Oz (Redoute’s Choice/Princess Coup) galloped over 600 metres at three quarter pace in a pleasing fashion this morning. The fillies were all business from start to finish and pulled up well after covering the final furlong in 14.4 seconds. We expect to see further improvement as this pair gains additional fitness over the coming weeks but we couldn’t be happier with how they’re performing at this early stage.
