Trackwork Thursday 18 April 2019
Last start winner, Diamond Star Halo (High Chaparral/Justa Babe) put in a stylish gallop over 1200 metres with jockey Rachel King in the irons this morning. The mare was feeling fresh and bowled over the track with a smile on her face, quickening nicely down the straight to stop the clock at 11.2 seconds for the final furlong. Rachel was pleased with the effort and we couldn't be happier with how she looked this morning. Diamond Star Halo has taken nice benefit from her slower paced week, so we have pencilled her in to get back to the races next week.
Wolfe (Novellist/Peace Of World) got right back into the swing of things with a lovely gallop over 1000 metres this morning. He worked nicely in company with Dubai Harbour (Harbour Watch/Munyate) and the pair showed good focus as they crossed the finish to stop the clock at 12.1 seconds for the final furlong. The gelding was bright and happy throughout the effort, which indicates that he is right on track to get back to the races next time in.
Echo Gem (Squamosa/Porcellanus) continues to put her best foot forward as she edges closer to her first start of the preparation. This morning, the filly bowled over 1000 metres with jockey James Innes Junior in the irons. She worked over the track in a relaxed fashion and showed a fantastic turn of foot down the straight to cover the final furlong in 11.0 seconds. The effort pleased James who commented, “The filly was very, very sharp today. That was excellent work.” We look forward to seeing this filly back at the races on Saturday where we expect to see her prove tough to run down.
