Trackwork Friday 28 June 2019
It was a busy morning at Randwick with 18 horses trialling for the stable and some very smart performances amongst them.
Escaped (Exceed And Excel/Se Sauver) could not have been more impressive this morning when winning his trial by just under five lengths in testing conditions. Nash said, "He is a natural early running type and handled the conditions very well. That was really impressive." The colt has come back better than ever, he handled this morning like a professional and he'll take plenty of improvement from the outing.

Battle Guardian (Fighting Sun/Devils Arcade) trialled extremely well this morning on a very heavy track at Randwick. He caught everyone's eye is his debut trial two weeks ago and this morning, jockey Tim Clark was full of praise for the gelding. He commented, "That was a very good trial, he improves every time I sit on him and he didn't have a problem with the ground. He has plenty of raw talent." His raw talent is certainly enough to break his maiden this time in so we have pencilled him in to contest the 2 Year Old Maiden over 1100 metres at Rosehill on 13th July.

You Rang (Sebring/Ruud Awakening) was set a bit of a challenge on debut, on a very heavy track this morning and boy did she grab it with both hands. Jockey Tim Clark was in the saddle and commented, "She trialled very well this morning. She jumped well, showed good speed and travelled strongly throughout. I didn't ask her for an effort up the straight, she's very natural and immediate. I held her together because the track was so soft and chopped up. I wanted to make sure her first experience at the trials was a good one but I had a heap of horse underneath me."

Spice Isle (Hinchinbrook/Grenada) was terrific in her debut trial this morning. She is a lovely big, rangy filly so we are sure that she will improve on a better surface, which adds merit to this morning's performance. Jockey Tim Clark made the comment "She went really well. She did everything right and is very professional. That was very positive for a first trial and she will improve a lot with another under her belt." Spice Isle is going extremely well and we were thrilled to see her replicate that in her debut trial this morning. We will pencil her in for a second trial in approximately two weeks' time as she edges closer to her debut.
