Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing

Gai's Tip Sheet

Saturday 6th August 2022 - RANDWICK

Rail: True

SO UNITED (Race 3, 12.30pm, 2400m, No.4, jockey Rachel King, 56.5kg)

So United (SoYou Think/Maglissa) five-year-old gelding.

So United has performed well on a heavy track but it was bottomless last time and the big weight just stopped him in his tracks. We are keen to see how he performs over the 2400 metres because we have always felt that it would suit him perfectly. He has drawn out wide but with little pace inside of him, we expect him to roll forward, race prominently and be tough to run down.

GROVE FERRY (Race 7, 2.55pm, 1800m, No.9, jockey Tim Clark, 54kg)

Grove Ferry (Excelebration/Rebelline) six-year-old gelding.

Grove Ferry was his own worst enemy at Grafton so we have added the cross-over noseband to help him settle. It has done the trick during his work so we are hopeful that he can take that to race day as he is crying out for a step up in trip but needs to settle to see out the distance. If he can reclaim his form from last preparation he will be going close winning here.

EMBRACER (Race 8, 3.35pm, 1200m, No.7, jockey Regan Bayliss, 56kg)

Embracer (Sebring/Leone Chiara) seven-year-old gelding.

Embracer couldn't have trialled more impressively and his first up record is excellent. We would like the track to dry out further and the forecast is favourable, but that's something we unfortunately cannot control. He's fit, he's drawn well and will race prominently. With some of his main rivals using this race as a stepping stone towards the majors, your gelding will be ready to capitalise.

Saturday 6th August 2022 - NEWCASTLE

Rail: True

FALSETTO (Race 6, 3.20pm, 1200m, No.16, jockey James Innes Jnr, 57.5kg)

Falsetto (Hinchinbrook/Harmonized Feeling) four-year-old filly.

Falsetto isn't a flashy trackworker but she placed in town last preparation and trialled very well two weeks ago so it seems she saves it for when it matters. She has been freshened into this race and although she may need it fitness wise, this is a suitable level to be resuming at. She has drawn out very wide but there doesn't look to be too much pace on so with some luck in running she should be able to race prominently, give a good kick and be tough to run down.

Monday 8th August 2022 - GOULBURN

Rail: True

DOUGHBOY HOLLOW (Race 5, 3.20pm, 1500m, No4, jockey Winona Costin, 56.5kg)

Doughboy Hollow (Headwater/Damedge) three-year-old gelding.

Doughboy Hollow was terrific on debut when only being beaten half a length. It was a very heavy track that day so the conditions shouldn't pose a problem and he drops back in grade. We are hopeful that this will give him a nice, confidence boosting run and we can look towards bigger and better things from here. He has drawn out wide but there doesn't look to be too much pace on so with a little luck in running, he should be able to race prominently, and be tough to catch.
