Remembering Fighting Sun

Fighting Sun

It was with great sadness that I learned of Fighting Sun's passing today. He was a good natured, handsome individual and a son of the champion Northern Meteor, who I also had the pleasure of training. Fighting Sun showed himself to be a colt of the highest order, demonstrating blistering speed to win his first two starts before injury then sadly curtailed his racing career.

He went on to have a very successful career as a stallion, which saw him crowned as champion first season sire in Victoria. His largest crop of 2 year olds are due to hit track in the coming 2020/2021 season, and I've no doubt that his legacy will live on in the years to come through his progeny and their offspring. My condolences go out to Mr Kong and his sister Danielle, who have been - and continue to be - so incredibly supportive of the Australian horse racing and breeding industries.
