Inglis Classic Sale 2021

The 2021 version of Inglis' Classic Sale followed the trend of the Australasian yearling sales so far this year by posting healthy key statistics including clearance rate and new record prices paid for both sexes. Most interestingly was the spread of the buying bench. At this year's sale there was no dominant buyer, just an incredibly even spread of leading owners, syndicators, agents, and stables active at all levels of the market.

Underbidding PROFITEER last year had us motivated to go one better in 2021 and thanks to our supporters we were able to walk away with 11 of the Classic Sale's finest young racing prospects.

Five of these we backed ourselves to buy and we have started to piece them together. We have profiled each of these young athletes below and we cover each of them in our post sale wrap up show here amongst a laugh or two.

Please contact Claudia Miller (claudia@gaiwaterhouse.com.au) or Bruce Slade (bruce@kestrelthoroughbreds.com.au) for all enquiries.

Happy Racing,
Gai & Adrian

Lot 218 - Deep Field x Pearl Congenial '19 Colt
Purchased for $280,000 from Newgate Farm
Limited shares available

The highest priced colt by his exciting young sire at this sale, and for us the best colt in the sale if you want to tick all the boxes

He is the spitting image of his old man (who we also tried to buy as a yearling), so hopefully he is just as fast. See video: Click Here

His mother Pearl Congenial was quick and early too with Stakes placings in the Debutante Stakes and Inglis Banner as a pre-Xmas 2YO

Watch this stallion prospect move in his yearling video!

Deep Field x Pearl Congenial '19 Colt

Lot 253 - Spirit Of Boom x Puzzles '19 Colt
Purchased for $110,000 from Newhaven Park

A colt by the same sire as $2 mill Magic Millions 2YO Classic, $1 mill Magic Millions Sprint winner & Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint Stakes runner-up, Jonker

A young sire going places, this colt comes from the best crop of mares Spirit Of Boom has had the opportunity with  (by a long way). He averaged over $200K at MM earlier in the year with this class of mare

The dam, Puzzle is by Champion Sire Shamardal and she's the half-sister to our stable star and multiple Group 1 winner, ENGLISH. A talented racehorse herself, Puzzle won as a 2YO and placed multiple times at Melbourne Metro grade at Flemington and Caulfield

Puzzle has produced two runners for two talented types already in Super Oasis and Codebreaker

Spirit Of Boom x Puzzle '19 Colt

Lot 559 - Tivaci x Date Night '19 Colt
Purchased for $180,000 from Glenn Lee Thoroughbreds (As Agent for Waikato Stud)

A colt from the second crop of Group 1 winning sprinter/miler, Tivaci. We have a filly in the stable that we have a lot of time for we were happy to get our hands on another

This colt is the first foal of smart Group class mare Date Night and you can see plenty of her sire Savabeel in our colt

This High Chaparral/Zabeel cross is potent with Dundeel the headline act bred this way exactly, as well as Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes winners, Fenway and Hiyaam

He was bred and raised on New Zealand's leading nursery, Waikato Stud, as was our 2YO Stakes winning daughter of Savabeel, Tillianum

Tivaci x Date Night '19 Colt

Lot 616 - Maurice x Fortiche '19 Colt
Purchased for $170,000 from Arrowfield Stud

A cracking colt with a stack of presence

Sire Maurice was a World Champion racehorse and with his oldest crop just 3YOs in Japan, they have TRIPLED his service fee this year on the back of the exciting prospects in his first crop

This colt's mother was talented too and she's a half-sister to very smart sprinter, Mic Mac. Fortiche only had four starts, winning on debut before mixing it against future Stakes class mares in her next two starts at Melbourne Metro level

Check him out in the video and then check out his dad aka 'THE BEAST FROM THE EAST' - Click Here
