It's a slightly quieter day for the stable at Randwick this Saturday, with four runners compared to last week's twelve. However, whilst the number is reduced the quality is still very much there.

NEVER BEEN KISSED returns to the scene of her biggest victory following a brave win in last Saturday's Group 1 Flight Stakes. She's backing up in the $1mil. Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes over 2000 metres, with Regan Bayliss in the saddle again. She hit the line very strongly over the mile last weekend, so the step up to 2000 metres doesn't concern us at all. She's come through the run in excellent shape and she's enjoyed some trips to the beach this week, but you can never be sure how much of a mark a run has left on them until they go again. Montefilia did the Flight Stakes/Spring Champion double last week, so it can be done if they're good enough, and we've got every faith that this hardy Waikato Stud owned/bred filly can bring home the win.

On the same card, VANGELIC contests the $500k Silver Eagle fresh off the back of her win in the G2 Golden Pendant. She's taking on the boys for the first time in a long time and also dropping to 1300 metres, but she's such a tough and adaptable mare we think she's still very much the one they must all beat. SPLENDIFEROUS steps up in class in the Group 3 Mares' Angst Stakes, and she's had two runs over inadequate distances thus far this preparation but they've put her spot on for this. She was fourth in the G1 Queensland Oaks earlier in the year, and if they go a strong gallop it'll certainly suit her. Finally, PERFECT RADIANCE bids to regain her winning streak after wins at Newcastle and Wyong before then finding a few too strong in the Listed Wyong Cup last time. She's back in a realistic grade here, and she can make her presence felt.

At the provincials at Goulburn, WENET is first-up this preparation and looks to have a winning chance. INVINCIBLE VISION won impressively on debut before then underperforming when upped in trip second-up. He is back in distance here, and fingers crossed this sees him back in the Winner's Circle. Winona Costin rides all three of them, and she has a terrific strike rate for the stable.

Looking interstate, SHIHONKA takes on her biggest task to date at Caulfield on Saturday in the Group 3 3 Year Old Fillies Maroona Stakes over 1200 metres. She won her maiden first-up by more than 6 lengths, and whilst it was a provincial race horses simply don't win their maidens by that far unless they're quality animals. She placed in a Listed race last preparation, so she's already got some Black Type but this race looks to be hers for the winning. NAVY CROSS also takes on one of his biggest tasks to date at Eagle Farm in the Listed Queensland Cup over 2400 metres. We were delighted to see him gain a well-deserved win last time, and with Michael Cahill retaining the ride he should be there or thereabouts.

Finally, FARETTI & NARVAEZ both return to the track at Ballarat on Sunday. FARETTI won first-up before then doing too much in the run last time, and he's had a nice freshen up since then. NARVAEZ was courageous when winning last time, and this son of Vancouver looks to have plenty of further upside this preparation.
