Up Close & Personal in Tonga

When Louise took Rob and me with her to Tonga for a week's sailing in Ha'apai, Tonga aboard the famous Australian adventurer, Don McIntyre's catamaran, Explorer, we were hopeful of seeing a few whales but didn't realise just how up close and personal we would be...

Check out this whale calf as it swam right up to us to say 'Gooday' and you can see her eyeing us up. As Mamma whale 'blew her horn' we were completely mesmerised not thinking about the possibility of the protective mother giving us an almighty slap with her 'enormous' tail, as she swam up to lead her inquisitive charge away into the blue yonder!
