Time To Say Goodbye

It is with bittersweet feelings that we bid farewell of our wonderful mare and stable favourite, Con Te Partiro.  The gorgeous daughter of Scat Daddy ran her last race at Rosehill on Saturday when finishing a very creditable fifth in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes and she will now commence her second career as a broodmare at Newgate Stud.

"Con Te", as she's affectionately known, was bought by Newgate Stud Farm at the Keeneland Sale in September 2018 for $500,00 and she wasted no time getting off the mark for us in the Group 3 Arrowfield Dark Jewel Classic at Scone in May this year. Since then she has run some fantastic races at Group level and has always given it her all. She has won races on three different continents at Royal Ascot in the U.K., in the United States and here in Australia. This highlights just how much of a versatile, adaptable and tough mare she is. Special mention must go to Alana Pearson (pictured riding Con Te below) who looked after her and rode her every day.  She is a quirky mare who isn't always the easiest to handle, but Alana does so with huge skill and care and we know she will miss her enormously.

She will depart Tulloch Lodge in the next few days and return to Newgate for what we hope is a long and prosperous future as a broodmare. She has been a pleasure to train and have in the yard and we wish Newgate every success with her in her next career.

We must also congratulate Henry Field from Newgate Stud on the recent success with Eight Rings in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita. He was most dominant in his six length victory and he looks destined for great things. Who knows, maybe one day we will hear the pitter patter of an Eight Rings x Con Te Partiro foal in the paddocks…

Happy Retirement Con Te!
