It Runs In The Family

If you’re looking for a horse with major upside, our filly out of TAPANAPPA is your girl.

Purchased for $65,000 from the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January, this filly is by Group 1 winner SHOOTING TO WIN, who himself comes from a top female family. Shooting To Win is one of two Group winners out of LISTEN HERE from three foals to race with all three being winners. His full brother is the record breaking Group 2 winner DEEP FIELD, whose first yearlings have also been very well received at the sales this year. Shooting To Win comes from the extended family of sires COMMANDS and OCTAGONAL, making him an exciting stallion prospect before you even factor in his race record.

Shooting To Win

Shooting To Win is by the late NORTHERN METEOR, who only sired four crops but that group included 24 Stakes winners and 14 Group winners from only 363 starters. His most successful sire son is multiple Group 1 winner ZOUSTAR with his first crop including this year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner & Group 2 Silver Slipper winner SUNLIGHT.

Shooting To Win won on debut as a 2 year old over 1200 metres before winning his second start at Canterbury over 1250 metres a few weeks later. But it was his 3 year old season where he was written into the history books when joining Octagonal’s top son LONHRO as the only two horses to pull off the Stan Fox/Caulfield Guineas double. He added himself to another elite list in the Caulfield Guineas when winning it in a faster time than both LONHRO and leading stallion REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

This filly’s dam, Tapanappa, comes from a good family of her own to back up Shooting To Win’s influence. While Tapanappa just raced once, her dam DANCER’S CHOICE was a Group 3 winner who also finished third in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes and Group 1 Goodwood Handicap. A third generation Group race winner, Dancer’s Choice then became a fourth generation Stakes producer when NADEN and CATANGO both won Stakes races. Her daughter CHA CHA followed in their success when she threw Stakes winning CHADING as her first foal.

Pandemonium (1/2 sister) as a yearling

In addition to having Stakes winners under nearly every one of our filly’s first six dams, history shows that she’s almost guaranteed to be a winner. In a long standing tradition in her family for nearly 100 years, every one of this filly’s first seven dams have produced at least five winners for a 76% Runners/Winners strike rate. Tapanappa herself has produced five winners from seven to race with one being our very own PANDEMONIUM who is a 3 x winning daughter of Sebring & a Group 1 performer. She is also now Stakes placed having finished second in the Listed Laelia Stakes at Morphetville this preparation.

This filly was an absolute steal, she has terrific upside and those join in the partnership are in for one heck of a ride!
