New Zealand bred thoroughbreds continue to dominate the top class middle distance and staying races in Australasia. In the 2019/2020 season, New Zealand won the $7.5 million Golden Eagle & the $1 million Group 1 Epsom Handicap with Kolding. Miami Bound won the $1 million Group 1 VRC Oaks, Probabeel took out the Group 1 Surround Stakes and Te Akau Shark was victorious in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes. If you want to look internationally, the highest rated miler in the world & the winner of the $10,000,000 Group 1 HKJC Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup, Beauty Generation, also has the NZ suffix. The statistics speak for themselves, and I too have enjoyed great success with the Kiwis, including my Group 1 Caulfield Cup & Group 1 Caulfield Stakes winner, DESCARADO, Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes winner, ADRIFT, Group 3 Lexus Stakes winner & Melbourne Cup contender, CISMONTANE, & 3x Stakes winner & 3x Group 1 placegetter, ECUADOR.

We purchased our SAVABEEL x NYMPH '18 for a sensible A$146,000 from the draft of Windsor Park Stud. He is an athletic, strong son of Savabeel and he is the first foal out of a Thorn Park winning mare who is the half-sister to Group 1 Oaks placed, Savvy Oak. We have found that the neater, more athletic progeny of Savabeel are the most successful and Adrian and I have been impressed with just how much precocity this colt has shown at this stage of his education. He has completed strong pace work and has already had a jumpout on the grass which he handled like a natural.

If you are looking for a middle distance horse with stamina, that could have you racing for the Autumn and Spring riches for years to come, look no further. This colt is for you.
