Get Involved

Every year, Gai and her expert advisers select and purchase yearlings at the major sales on behalf of existing owners and those newly-interested.

To discuss becoming involved, simply contact Gai.

Gai prides herself on finding value for owners when selecting a horse and as ownership options are varied, with partnerships and syndicates, racing your own 'star' needn't cost a packet.

"We've had enormous success with reasonably-priced yearlings," Gai rightly claims.

"Syndicates and partnerships are vital because owners are the foundation of racing. The more people we have involved the more vibrant the industry will be."

"Personally, I find training for a syndicate particularly rewarding because all concerned get so much enjoyment from an inherently affordable investment."

Affordable Racing

Despite Gai's position of leadership, her current daily rate for training is well below that recommended by the Australian Trainers' Association.

"We are results driven. We receive a percentage of prizemoney, as all trainers do, and we're happy to rely on our hard work and results to keep our training fees reasonable," Gai explains.

Owners are invoiced monthly in accordance with the percentage of the horse each owns. The itemised statement will include all expenses incurred except transportation and veterinary which are billed direct.

Come And See Your Horse

Every Sunday, from 11 a.m. to noon, the stables are open for owners to inspect their horse and discuss its progress with Gai and her key staff. Stay behind for refreshments in the beautifully-appointed T J Smith Room, to celebrate victories and to meet fellow owners. Viewing can be arranged outside this time by appointment.

Worry-free Ownership

For many owners, Gai manages their horses' careers at every stage, from purchase in the sale ring and all the necessary paperwork, spelling and pre-training, right through to re-sale or retirement. It's worry-free ownership.

See Your Colours Up

Your horse can race in your own registered colours (with matching blinkers if need be) or you can use T J Smith's famous stable colours handed down to Gai, dark blue and green stripes, dark blue cap.

Raceday Privileges

When your horse races you are entitled to complimentary access to members' and owners' areas and to the mounting yard where you can join Gai and the jockey to discuss the race. At the major tracks Gai extends raceday hospitality to participating owners.
