A Limited Edition

The recent Keenland September Yearling Sale is well underway and you would be astonished at the prices that Tapit’s progeny have fetched thus far. Tapit is by far proving to be the most successful sire of the sale topping it with an amazing $16 + million from just 17 horses sold averaging $950,000.

Coolmore’s M.V. Magnier purchased a Tapit filly for $2.7 million out of Pretty ’n Smart who was a Group 2 winner and the dam of 8 foals to race for 8 winners including Group 1 winner CUPID (Tapit), dual Group 3 winner, HEART ASHLEY and Group 3 winner ASHLEY’S KITTEN.

Whisper Hill Farm went to $2.6 million to secure a son of Tapit, out of the dual Group 1 placed mare, MISS BESILU. The 2nd dam QUIET DANCE is a Stakes performer and producer having foaled dual Group 1 winner SAINT LAM and Group 2 victor QUIET GIANT who is the dam of the legendary GUN RUNNER.

Finally, Shadwell Stud signed a ticket for $2.5 million for a Tapit colt out of the Group 1 winning & multiple Stakes place-getter, TIZ MIZ SUE.

For those of you who are struggling to comprehend the above three price tags, let me shed some light on Tapit’s achievements as a sire which might help put things into perspective.

TAPIT has been America’s leading sire since 2014 having sired 61 Graded winners, 23 Grade 1 winners, six Champions, five Breeders’ Cup winners, three Belmont Stakes winners including this year’s TAPWRIT, and earners of more than $117 million on the racetrack.

The colt above is our very own son of Tapit that we purchased from the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale earlier this year. A mere $300,000 (our American counterparts won’t believe me when they hear of this astonishing value for a son of their most sought after, game changing stallion, Tapit) bought us lot 179 from the draft of Vinery Stud, out of the Group 2 winning & multiple Stakes place-getter, HOUR GLASS.

We are incredibly excited to have secured one of only five Tapit’s offered in the Southern Hemisphere and we are even more excited to be able to race him with Gainesway Stud who bred this colt and who stand the mighty Tapit at their farm in Kentucky for $300,000. They just loved the colt and couldn’t have been more pleased to be invited to join the ownership group.

If you have doubts about Tapit’s progeny being successful on turf, you only have to look at Darley’s most successful stallion to shuttle from the Northern Hemisphere, Medaglia d’Oro who has sired dual hemisphere Champions, both on dirt and turf. One being Gai’s undefeated Golden Slipper winning 2YO and Medaglia d’Oro’s most successful son VANCOUVER, who was sold to stud for in excess of $38 million.

This colt will arrive at Tulloch Lodge on Friday having been broken in at Vinery Stud, and all reports thus far have been exceedingly positive. He’s a big, strong individual who has plenty of bone for bulk to take on the rigours of training. He oozes sex appeal, he has a pedigree page to die for and he certainly looks the part. So what are you waiting for? Join me in racing this limited edition stallion prospect.
