Raunchy Rocks Randwick

Gai’s first winner on the newly refurbished Kensington track at Randwick was the magnificently named Raunchy Rocker (Fastnet Rock x Ranchy) who stormed home to win her first start on Monday.

Another Breeders' Plate Winner for Star Thoroughbreds

I was again lucky enough to train the winner, the very handsome Star Thoroughbreds colt who goes by the name of Law (Denman x Lady Cat).

Rain Drum Reigns Supreme

On May 26th 2012 at Rosehill, the promising middle distance gelding Rain Drum (Fastnet Rock x Gifted Spirit) won a race over 2000m carrying 59kg with Tommy Berry aboard. This was just his tenth start and his fifth win.

A Tribute to Reuben Percival

A heartfelt tribute to the great Reuben Percival.

Pilar to Post in the Group 3 Colin Stephen

The remarkably consistent imported stayer Julienas (Cape Cross x Dora Carrington) returned to the winners’ circle on Saturday and I could not be happier with the gelding heading towards the Group 1 staying races both this week and in the future.

A Double at Newcastle

The Tulloch Lodge horses that travelled up to Newcastle on Saturday all performed well, but really this is now just a given considering the record Gai’s horses have at the track especially over the last year.

A Divine Display at Moonee Valley

The ever improving grey gelding Divine Calling (Stratum x Rubicall) made it two in a row at Moonee Valley on Friday night with another stunning victory.

Rockford Rocks Caulfield

The exciting gelding Rockford (Flying Spur x Ready Magic) made it four winners from the last four starters for Gai Waterhouse Racing (in Melbourne) with a swooping win over 1700m at Caulfield on Saturday.

A Kembla Double

Two horses from Tulloch Lodge made the trip down to Kembla Grange on Saturday and both just happened to have won.

Vaquera Swoops Late to Claim the G3 Tibbie Stakes

I was simply thrilled with the win of Vaquera (High Chaparral x The Mighty Lions) at Newcastle in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes on Thursday.

Ecuador Still Improving

The horse with the most unique racing record in NSW, the wonderful Ecuador is fast rising to the heights the stable thought he would reach after another glorious win on the weekend.

A Super Saturday for Star Thoroughbreds

Saturday was a great day for Star Thoroughbreds that resulted in a Group Three win and a very impressive first up win at Kembla Grange.

Three From Three at Moonee Vally

During Golden Rose day at Rosehill on Saturday, I was drawn to the television screen on three separate occasions to watch three different races from Moonee Valley.

Our Desert Warrior Spectacular at Warwick Farm

Some people at Warwick Farm on Wednesday could have been forgiven for thinking champion Desert War had been hastily returned to racing after his full brother Our Desert Warrior (Desert King x High Heels) did the family proud with a tenacious and extremely classy win at the track.

Aussies Love Sport Takes the G3 Ming Dynasty in Great Style

Aussies Love Sport (Redoute's Choice x Miss Jakeo) made it two wins in a row with a very strong victory in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty at Randwick on Saturday.

Spurtontic Cruises to a Comfortable Victory

The rapidly improving gelding Spurtonic (Flying Spur x Platonic) continued on his winning way with a dominant all the way win in the first race at Randwick on Saturday.

Mr Jackman Impresses at Wyong

Star Thoroughbreds Mr Jackman (Northern Meteor x Miss Broadway) continued his great form on Friday with a really tenacious and classy victory in the Da Vini for three-year-olds at Wyong on Wyong Cup day.

Liberty's Choice is Too Good at Canterbury

Yesterday the Canterbury meeting opened with a very satisfying victory for the Lady Trainer, by the wonderful colt Liberty’s Choice.

Danas Best Scores a Hatrick in Fine Style

Quality stayer '''Danas Best''' (Danasinga x Best Promise) made it a hat trick of wins on Saturday at Rosehill.

Projectile hits with precision at Newcastle

Projectile took race 1 at Newcastle on Thursday in great fashion.

Two Excellent Winners at Kembla Grange

Rockabill and More Glory both scored impressively from very wide draws at Kembla over the weekend.

The Waterhouse Team Wage WAR at Warwick Farm

Glencadam Gold NSW Stayer of the Year

Glencadam Gold took home the award for Stayer of the Year at the NSW Owners' Association Horse of the Year Awards last night.

Pierro, Officialy World Class

Pierro has officially been rated as the joint second best Australian horse in the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, behind only Black Caviar.

A Treble for the Team at Tulloch Lodge

Lady Trainer and her team's hard work paid off with a fantastic treble at Canterbury yesterday.

One from one for Order of the Sun

Order of the Sun (Encosta de Lago x Sequin) is now one from one after a tenacious and classy victory in a very deep race at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Ciaron Maher Makes History

Just a quick word about my Victorian friend and trainer Ciaron Maher, who has stables just outside Warrnambool and at Caulfield. Ciaron yesterday became the first trainer in the 147 year history of the Grand National Steeplechase to train the winner three years running. The young man from near Warrnambool achieved this when his champion jumper Bashboy lugged 72.5kg to victory in 4500m Classic. This is the second consecutive year that Bashboy has won the race; in 2011, recent Grand Annual (at Warrnambool) runner up Man of Class won the race for Ciaron.

Newcastle Feels The Rush

Sugar Rush (More Than Ready x Sugar Babe) broke her maiden on Saturday with an emphatic victory at Newcastle. I remember her mum, the classy Sugar Babe running very close to Sebring in the 2008 Golden Slipper and also getting very close in the Magic Millions. It is no surprise that her daughter, by the wonderful More Than Ready is starting to hit her straps on the track.

Miss World Australia 2013

The Miss World Australia finals commence on Wednesday (July 17) in Melbourne and everyone from the office and the stable including me, are throwing their support behind the beautiful Yasmin Kassim. However to be crowned Miss World Australia one must possess much more than just natural beauty; to receive this coveted title and represent Australia at the Miss World finals, a candidate has to be exceptionally caring, giving and inspiring. Yasmin ticks all these boxes many times over.

Charing Cross Returns To The Winner's Circle

Star Thoroughbreds Charing Cross (Fastnet Rock x Coogee Beach) returned to the winners circle with a fantastic win over the mile at Warwick Farm on Saturday. This son of Fastnet Rock appears to have come back into work better than ever which is great considering the talent the gelding possesses.

Houston Lifts Off on Debut

If ever a first starter has lived up to its trackwork and trial form it was Star Thoroughbreds Houston (Fastnet Rock x Caviar Emptor) at Newcastle on Saturday.

The Great Snowman thaw's his rivals

'''The Great Snowman''' (Brilliance x Penelope Pitstop) returned to the winners circle on Wednesday at Warwick Farm aided by an amazing ride courtesy of Nash Rawiller.

Pitcrew is Perfection

Pitcrew (Sebring x Pine Away) remains unbeaten after the son of Sebring recorded a brilliant all the way win at Rosehill on Monday.

The Top Hat

Northern Glory Glorious Again

'''Northern Glory''' (Northern Meteor x Cliantha) made it two in a row at Randwick over the classic distance of 1200m on a very wet Saturday.

Masahiko the Fighting Harada

Star Thoroughbreds Masahiko (Haradasun x Saffie Darling) continued his fine form with an outstanding win at Rosehill on Saturday. Tim Clark jumped the gelding out of the barriers very well and let his mount balance up before pushing him a touch up into second place. Tim sat outside the leader (and the hot pot) for the majority of the race. It was a beautifully timed and patient ride.

Larry Not So Laidback

Laidback Larry (O'Reilly x Larrinka) continued his fine progression at Newcastle on Saturday with a very nice win over 1850m. The son of O’Reilly has been looking for a little extra distance in his races, and when he got it on Saturday he was almost unstoppable.

Bulls Eye

Flying Sebring Stays the Distance

Flying Sebring (Sebring x Western Passage) continued his great progression and great form at Randwick on Monday with a tough albeit very narrow victory over 1800m.

Northern Glory Glorious at Randwick

Northern Glory (Northern Meteor x Cliantha) produced an outstand finishing burst to win at Randwick on Saturday. I must say that during the run, I could not help but notice how relaxed this filly was; I think it was the kind hands of Alysha Collett that allowed the filly to relax so well.

Romantic Touch Dominates In QLD Group 1

Gooree gelding Romantic Touch (Northern Meteor x Dearness) completed the ultimate progression from midweek company to Group One glory with a tremendous win of the J.J. Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday. This gelding is the first Group One winner for outstanding sire and former Tulloch Lodge resident Northern Meteor. My former gun sprinter sired the quinella just for good measure.

Under The Sun Back To His Best

One of the most consistent horses at Tulloch Lodge, the kiwi import Under the Sun (No Excuse Needed x Sleaking) returned to the winners circle on Saturday at Randwick, and boy did he deserve it

Sebring Keeps on Flying

Flying Sebring (Sebring x Western Passage) continued his great form with a dominant win at Warwick Farm yesterday. It was also another registered city win for comeback jockey Adam Hyeronimus, who jumped the gelding straight to the lead and never looked threatened at any stage. It was a text book ride; out in front and dictating the speed while continually building momentum, then after balancing up he put a gap in the field and put the race to bed. Adam should be very proud of his ride.

Star Thoroughbred’s Rock Newcastle Centre

Star Thoroughbred’s Rockafellacentre continued his great progression on Saturday with a gutsy win at Newcastle. At the gelding’s first up run this preparation, I was watching him on television from the Warrnambool races and I was thrilled the way he toughed it out for an impressive third. At his next start he was in a blanket finish and ran 4th beaten less than half a length. On Saturday at Newcastle he was up to his best distance and the gelding with Grant Buckley on board never gave his rivals a chance. Rockafellacentre was too fit and had too much class.

Star Thoroughbred’s Queenstown

Star Thoroughbred’s Queenstown (Stratum x Regal Heights) was back in the winner’s circle after a strong and classy victory at Randwick on Saturday. After jumping nicely, Thomas Huet placed Queenstown outside the leader and as the import jockey has been doing with his mounts lately, he gave the filly a beautiful ride. He maintained his speed and momentum, allowing his mount to go when he knew the time was right. Queenstown quickly put a gap on the field at the top of the straight and she was strong enough to get further ahead, never looking like being headed.

Romantic Touch has Midas Touch

Gooree gelding Romantic Touch (Northern Meteor x Dearness) won a two-year-old race over 1550m at Canterbury on Wednesday; however it was the way he won which had many thinking his close relation and fellow Gooree gelding Desert War had made a comeback.

A Few Things....

Laidback Larry Delights over the Mile

'''Laidback Larry''' (O'Reilly x Larrinka) broke his maiden with a brilliant win at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Congratulations to Widden Stud and all those involved with Sebring who won the HTBA (Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association) Champion First Season Sire Award, edging out fellow Widden Stud sire and former Gai Waterhouse galloper Northern Meteor.

Cosmic Endeavour Out of This World

'''Cosmic Endeavour''' (Northern Meteor x Crevette) with Nash Rawiller on board turned the second race at Canterbury on Wednesday into a real one horse affair.

Swift Shadow Wins by Five and a Half Lengths

The impeccably bred '''Shift Shadow''' (Encosta de Lago x Gee I Jane) returned to the winners circle in a big way with an eased-up 5.5 length win at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

A Wonderful Email

Squamosa to stand at Eliza Park

The dynamic Not a Single Doubt sprinter, SQUAMOSA, has joined the Eliza Park stallion roster for the 2013 breeding season. Renowned for his explosive speed and regarded as the fastest horse in Sydney, Squamosa blew away his rivals to maintain an unbeaten record as a 2YO before establishing his credentials with a victory in the Run To The Rose in his first start at three.

Looking for an Oaks filly?

Racing in Hong Kong on Saturday night, Dan Excel became the 2nd International Group 1 winner, in as many weeks, for his sire Shamardal and his 10th Group 1 winner in total. Dan Excel’s win in the Group 1 Championship Mile was his second career win in Hong Kong after beginning his racing career in Ireland under the guidance of trainer Kevin Prendergast.

What a great win it was by '''Florid Affair''' (Sebring x Show Exhibit) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Julienas on the Road to the Sydney Cup

Well what a win it was by Julienas (Cape Cross x Dora Carrington) at Rosehill on Saturday. Like the hero in an action film, Julienas fought off the villains one after another on his way to consecutive Rosehill victories.

Vaquera (High Chaparral x The Mighty Lions) broke her maiden with an exceptionally tough and tenacious win at Newcastle on Saturday.

Pierro Defeats The Older Horses In The Canterbury Stakes

'''Pierro''' (Lonhro x Miss Right Note) is still unbeaten in his home city of Sydney and Saturday’s win in the Group One Canterbury Stakes would have to be his best win to date.

Julienas Is Sky High

'''Julienas''' (Cape Cross x Dora Carrington) had, before Saturday, been flying on the training track.

Overreach Reaches for Slipper Stardom

Mt Altomonte and Corumbene Stud’s lovely filly Overreach confirmed her Golden Slipper favouritism with a brilliant win in the Reisling Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
